I would suggest that wearer be at least 5'5" to show the dress to its best advantage and to handle the weight and breadth of the dress. Under stage lights, this one is a showstopper! Spanish/Arabic Fusion/Fantasia-Size 8/10 $400 firm-originally approx. $800 Bodice is purple stretch lace with heavy beadwork, open underarm gusset, built in bra. Skirt may be worn straight across hips or at an angle (actually constructed for this type of drape), dependent on hip size. Skirt is lycra with ornate beading and paillettes with built in beaded belt. A portion of the skirt is lifted for a flounce and to show that gorgeous leg! (may be Madame Abla.....) Red/Silver Egyptian Beledi Dress-Size 6 $250-includes matching coin/beaded hip shawl, necklace, headpiece and underslip This beautiful dress originally came in yardage from Egypt including beadwork, etc. Telika (my primary costumier in the 70's and 80's) cut these apart, fashioned and sewed the dress. This means that the work is impeccable-seams finished, underarm gussets, etc. Delicate, lovely dress perfect for raks assaya (cane dance). "Hagalla" Style Dress-Size 8/10 $200-includes hip and head scarf-what a deal!! This has been one of my favorite dress for raks assaya so it has a lot of "good dance vibes" as part of its fabric but still in great shape. I was always complemented when I wore this dress...or at least the costume was!! It has inverted arcs simulating dowry necklace front and back. Burgundy/Gold Beaded Bra (38C/D) and Belt (Size 8-14) $250 Base of bra and belt is velvet. Belt stretches to hug contours, hooks in front and is so comfy! Short beaded fringe at bottom of belt accents those 3/4 shimmies! Turquoise Asymmetrical Orientale-Size 8-12 $350 Includes matching headband and anklet This silver fringed dress is gorgeous on stage. It's asymmetrical design, very "de rigeur"! The bottom of the dress has heavily beaded drapings that flare dramatically on spinning. The slightest shimmy MOVES this dress. Mauve Beledi Dress-Size 6 $50 This dress was sewn by Telika and so is finished perfectly. The fabric is sequined chiffon and the dress is fitted with darting, sweet princess neckline and open underarm gussets. Sleeves stop at elbow with a lined sleeve draping to wrist. It will need to be worn with a matching underslip or unitard (unless you're really daring!!!). I have worn it with a silver underdress and it really catches the light. With folkloric looking hip and head scarf it would make a nice raks assaya dress or with beaded headband and belt a demure beledi dress for the summer. Beaded belt or necklace-great for Tribal Sold as pair-$25 Beads are made of china so no Tunisian twists please! Yarn is a little faded (these were purchased in the 70's!) which adds to the antique" look. I have been told that these are actually used for camel ornamentation in their home setting but I think they are so colorful and unique that with the correct skirt and scarves they would be fun to wear/display. Would also be a perfect decoration for a drum case. Black/Gold Crocheted Overdress-Size 8/10 (stretches) $25 These net dresses are fun to wear over a unitard or underdress or throw them on over black tee and jeans for a conversation starter! I have stitched the network up at the hip to give a little flounce which makes it stop just below the knee. For more length, you can easily snip out the basting. I would also open the gussets for more comfortable wearing since the glass beadwork can "weigh you down". Sleeveless Black Net and Silver Pailette Nubian Dress-Size 8 Underdress not included-$8 This is a light little overdress so add an underdress or unitard for a folkloric piece. Youth (or Young at Heart) "I Dream of Jeannie" Set-Size 6 Complete Set-$25 The pink chiffon vest has lovely gold embroidery and sequins. I added the gold chiffon sleeves. The shalwar (harem pants) are pink lace, open up the side and tied at the ankle/calf. I sewed a little over skirt of green satin with trim to match. Also included is a little choker (not shown) which matches the skirt. Don't you have the perfect grandchild or niece for this little outfit?
